Road Trip to Meet the New Vicar
ROAD TRIP TO MEET THE NEW VICAR! -- April 26, 2016
A team of seven Zion members departed in the early morning to brave the rain en route to St. Louis, Missouri in time to attend the 3 PM Vicarage Assignment Ceremony at the Concordia Seminary Chapel. Representing all God’s people at Zion, the entourage included Pastor McLellan, Bill Bishop, John and Katie Gielarowski, Mike and Linda Kroeger, and Kenny Wuerthele.
The group eagerly awaited the announcement and then at the close of the ceremony made their way to the narthex where they surprised our Vicar-to-be, JOSHUA ULM. Humbled by the great effort made to greet him and his family, Joshua expressed his gratitude and eagerness to start his vicarage at Zion! Joshua and his wife Mary, a music education major, have a 20-month-old daughter Hannah and a son named Joseph due in mid-June. With family in both the Detroit area (hers) and Akron area (his), living in Pittsburgh will be a family-friendly assignment!
Following a Pastor-guided tour of the campus, the group happily hosted Joshua, Mary and Hannah at The Cheshire Inn for dinner. A box of Sarris Chocolates and a gift certificate to Burgh’s Pizza & Wing Pub were presented as a welcome and early preview of Pittsburgh. Wonderful conversation ensued confirming that all three will be delightful additions to the Zion family!
Please pray for the safe arrival of baby Joseph, the successful completion of this semester’s coursework for Joshua, and the family’s smooth transition and relocation from St. Louis to Bridgeville.
Vicar arrival date TBA!
