The Word of our God Will Stand Forever
-- Isaiah 40:8

It seems like this time of year change is literally in the air. The summer clothes are slowly being swapped out for sweaters and jackets. The clothes we wear are changing.

Take a drive around town and a quick glance will show you the trees are all starting to change. The dark shades of green are being swapped out for bright oranges and reds which will quickly turn to brown, dry up, and fall off. The leaves are changing. On that same drive, you can notice other changes, some less pleasant. The metallic finish on cars slowly changes where water and salt hit. Metal, so strong and lasting, is rusting. Even something as strong as metal is changing.

And an even more morbid sight to see is the dead deer carcasses littering the side of the roads. Deer that once frolicked are lying motionless. Their bodies dried up weeks, maybe even months ago, and all that is left is a pile of bones, skin and fur. Even the animals are changing.

Change is everywhere this time of year. It reminds us that change in life is always inevitable. Nothing is frozen in time. Nothing lasts forever. Nothing has been left untouched by the Fall into Sin. But there is one thing that remains unchanging through every change we see in life – the Word of our God (Isaiah 40:8). And this Word is the gospel Jesus Himself speaks to you; the promise that your sins are forgiven by His sacrifice and that even the changing of life into death will have no effect on His grip over you and your life. The Word of the Lord stands forever! Remind yourself of this because we desperately need to remember it.

Clothes may change but . . . the word of our God will stand forever.
Leaves may change but . . . the word of our God will stand forever.
Metal may change but . . . the word of our God will stand forever.
Even life may change but . . . the word of our God will stand forever!

Lots of change this time of year. But no matter what you see, and whenever you see change, please remind yourself that one thing will never change in your life. The word of our God will stand forever!

Zion Lutheran Church
The heart and soul of our worship is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe God comes to us in worship to forgive our sins, strengthen our faith, and equip us for the challenges and opportunities for the week ahead. Our worship times are 8:00 and 10:30 on Sunday mornings with a Bible Study for adults and Sunday School for children of all ages at 9:30. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at both services every week. Sunday morning worship is the highlight of the week at Zion Lutheran Church!!! We hope you will be able to join us! Each Wednesday this year (2014), we also have a 7:00 p.m. service. This service is shorter than our weekend service, in order to accommodate families with young children.
