Happy Autumn! The leaves are changing from green to brilliant red, yellow, purple, orange, and magenta hues, while the sunflowers are still in bloom. Tall and magnificent flowers, brilliant and joyful, they are a crowd pleaser.

This is the time of year when some of our societies and zones hold their elections. Many times, it is the same people running again because no one else will. Can you help in some way? As each has received a gift, useit to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace. (1 Peter 4:10) How will you use your talents to help your society, zone, or our district?

We held our Fall Retreat at Pioneer on the Lake beginning Friday, September 22 to Sunday, September 24, 2023. Our speaker was LCMS Eastern District President Rev. John Pingel. His message to us in a turbulent world is to keep on encouraging one another. The weather was perfect, and it was a wonderful time spent visiting old friends, making new ones, attending interest sessions, wandering the beach, and being in the Word at a place in the Son! Thank you to the Philadelphia Zone for all your efforts in making this a memorable event.

National News: As you know, Kathy Pavelock of the Central New York North Zone was elected in 2021 as the VP of Communication. We are blessed that she is on the national level as well as the Public Relations Coordinator for our district. This summer two women from the Eastern District were appointed to the national level as well – Rebecca Bessell – Mission Grant Committee and Linda Breight – Special Focus Committee. A job well done!!!

We are eagerly looking forward to our 80th LWML Eastern District Convention, June 14-16, 2024 at the DoubleTree Hilton, Cranberry, PA., hosted by the Pittsburgh Zone. WILL YOU BE THERE?

I have chosen For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremaiah 29:11) for the rest of my term in office. I seek His wisdom daily to let me know the plans that He has for me to fulfill my role as LWML Eastern District President.

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please contact me. I would love to talk with you – d_e_grzyb@msn.com, 716-901-4167 mobile or 716-393-3670.

Zion Lutheran Church
The heart and soul of our worship is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe God comes to us in worship to forgive our sins, strengthen our faith, and equip us for the challenges and opportunities for the week ahead. Our worship times are 8:00 and 10:30 on Sunday mornings with a Bible Study for adults and Sunday School for children of all ages at 9:30. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at both services every week. Sunday morning worship is the highlight of the week at Zion Lutheran Church!!! We hope you will be able to join us! Each Wednesday this year (2014), we also have a 7:00 p.m. service. This service is shorter than our weekend service, in order to accommodate families with young children. If you have any questions about our worship, please e-mail or call our Pastor: pastor@zlcb.org 412-667-0967
