Details on Chartiers Bridge Closure!

Chartiers Bridge (over Chartiers Creek near Rite Aid)  closing for three long weekends starting THURSDAY 4/13

Some Members May Need to Find an Alternate Route to Church Beginning this Weekend

The Chartiers Bridge replacement project on Washington Pike, at the border of South Fayette and Bridgeville, will occur during three extended weekend closures, starting on Thursday, April 13, 2023. The work represents the final stages of the project, which will improve traffic flow on and around the bridge and the adjacent I-79 interchange.

PennDOT will confirm each closure in advance, as the schedule may need to change due to environmental or other factors that would affect the work.

Here is the tentative bridge closure schedule:

Weekend #1

  • Lane restrictions on bridge 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Full closure from 9 p.m. Thurs. April 13 to 5 a.m. Mon. April 17

Weekend #2

  • Lane restrictions on bridge 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Full closure from 9 p.m. Thurs. April 20 to 5 a.m. Mon. April 24

Weekend #3

  • Lane restrictions on bridge 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Full closure from 9 p.m. Thurs. April 27 to 5 a.m. Mon. May 1

Please avoid the area if possible. The official detour uses I-79.

Local police will assist motorists at various intersections between Route 50 in South Fayette Township and the I-79 ramp in Collier Township. To allow bridge work to occur, Chartiers Street between Route 50 and Dewey Avenue and Church Street at Route 50 will be required to close the entire weekend. Chartiers Street traffic will be detoured via Route 50, Station Street, Dewey Avenue and Bank Street. Church Street traffic will be detoured via Station Street and Chess Street.

Zion Lutheran Church
The heart and soul of our worship is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe God comes to us in worship to forgive our sins, strengthen our faith, and equip us for the challenges and opportunities for the week ahead. Our worship times are 8:00 and 10:30 on Sunday mornings with a Bible Study for adults and Sunday School for children of all ages at 9:30. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at both services every week. Sunday morning worship is the highlight of the week at Zion Lutheran Church!!! We hope you will be able to join us! Each Wednesday this year (2014), we also have a 7:00 p.m. service. This service is shorter than our weekend service, in order to accommodate families with young children. If you have any questions about our worship, please e-mail or call our Pastor: pastor@zlcb.org 412-667-0967
