Photos from the installation of Zion’s new Deaconess, Joanna Lee
The installation of Deaconess Joanna Lee occurred on Sunday August 4, 2024 at the 10:30 a.m. service. Prior to the installation, there was a welcome brunch for Joanna in the Fellowship Hall with many in attendance, including Joanna’s husband Richard, their two children Janna and Leopold, along with her mom Denise (left) sister Mary (in red) and Aunt Deb on the right.
Joanna Ruth Lee (Johnson) was born in Saginaw, MI and grew up in Newton, NC. She is the daughter of an LCMS pastor, and the third of six siblings. While serving as an LCMS missionary in Taiwan, she met her husband, Richard (Chun Yu Lee). The Lee's have a daughter, Janna, born in 2020, and a son, Leopold, born in 2022.
Joanna obtained her Master of Arts in Deaconess Studies from Concordia Theological Seminary at Fort Wayne, IN. Prior to joining Zion Lutheran Church she recently interned at Perry Lutheran Homes and Christ Lutheran Church in Perry, IA. Prior to seminary, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN. Joanna is a Rostered Director of Parish Music (Commissioned 2017).
How Deaconess Lee will be serving Zion
As the Director of Family Life Deaconess Joanna will work alongside Pastor Grimenstein in developing and maintaining outreach programs to the local community (primarily through Zion Lutheran Preschool). The Director of Family Life will also focus upon strengthening the relationships between existing Zion members.
The overall goals of the Director of Family Life position are as follow:
Create a preschool outreach initiative.
Plan all youth programming/events.
Recruit & coordinate volunteers for programs.
Oversee ordering of resources related to events.
