Anniversary Anecdotes
Each month during our 125th anniversary year we’ll share perspectives from our members on Zion’s past, present and future.

I have been attending Zion with my husband, John, since 2019 and we became members in 2020. How blessed we were to get plugged into a church before the pandemic hit.
Since then I have enjoyed teaching Sunday school, attending Refor-fest, Woman’s bible study, bunco night, the woman’s ornament ex-change, and participating in bell choir.
The first Sunday we attended Zion the crucifix at the front of the church made quite the impression. In the sermon that day Pastor said some-thing to the effect of “it might be jarring to some but it is the whole reason we are here”. And those words and that crucifix continue to make an impact on me each Sunday because they’re true. The death and resurrection of Christ are the “why” to what drives every part of Zion’s Christ-centered, grace-filled ministry.
I have been greatly humbled by the kindness shown to me and my family. John and I started our fostering journey after we joined Zion. The welcomeness shown to our foster kids has been the most beautiful display of Christ’s love. To all the members that have prayed for us and come along side us, we are so appreciative. I have most appreciated getting to know the Christian women and mothers who display the greatest of love toward their families. I see you all. The impact you make in this congregation matters. Words are not enough.
I pray in the years ahead Zion would continue to flourish in its women’s and children’s ministries. I hope to see the impact of what raising a child in a community of believers can lead to -- a Christ-centered, grace-filled life. This is my prayer for all families at Zion -- that we all continue to come along side one another in a spirit of togetherness.
