Chairman's Report

Unless the Lord Builds the House
Thanks be to Almighty God, we're blessed to be celebrating 125 years of preaching Christ crucified and salvation created for all mankind who would believe! Surely the Holy Spirit was at work when the founders of this parish took the leap of faith to establish a Lutheran Church so very long ago. We're not just any Lutheran Church. We're a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, which aspires to stand firm in the resolve to keep the truth and purity in scripture that was born of the Reformation alive in our services and doctrine. Be thankful for being a member of such a church. We've all traveled various paths to get here and we're blessed to have walked a pathway into a church doctrine that is pure and faithful in the Word as presented in the Holy Bible; while other denominations stumble and fail to correct their ways. Many will be called but few chosen. Let's be thankful for our baptism and the work of the Holy Spirit to keep our Synod on a steady course of truth and sound governance. At Zion, the Holy Spirit that moved the founders to form this parish in Bridgeville lives in each of us! It's our sacred destiny to nurture and serve this Christian community to the best of our ability, and to be a steward of the blessings we've been given. We're very lucky to be members of this particular church. It's not an accident that you are part of this Body of Christ. God wants you here.

Our celebration is the weekend of September 9th and 10th. Let's enjoy being a Christian at Zion and have a nice weekend of celebration. Rally Day is the 17th; let's also give thanks for our Sunday School and Preschool ministries!

The Lord has been at work here at Zion for 125 years! Praise the Lord!

Psalm 111:1-3, reads:
Praise the Lord! I will give thanks to the Lord with my
whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the
works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and
majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.

Psalm 127:1,
continues a theme of sorts for us: Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.

Clearly, the Lord has built this house. We've had our ups and downs but God has guided us. We have not labored in vain. We shall fear the Lord and walk in His ways until He calls us to Himself. Zion is built upon the Rock. Thanks be to God! Amen.

Zion Lutheran Church
The heart and soul of our worship is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe God comes to us in worship to forgive our sins, strengthen our faith, and equip us for the challenges and opportunities for the week ahead. Our worship times are 8:00 and 10:30 on Sunday mornings with a Bible Study for adults and Sunday School for children of all ages at 9:30. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated at both services every week. Sunday morning worship is the highlight of the week at Zion Lutheran Church!!! We hope you will be able to join us! Each Wednesday this year (2014), we also have a 7:00 p.m. service. This service is shorter than our weekend service, in order to accommodate families with young children. If you have any questions about our worship, please e-mail or call our Pastor: pastor@zlcb.org 412-667-0967
